INGREDIENTS:

  • 120g glutinous rice flour
  • 40g sugar
  • 180ml fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Cornstarch (for dusting)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare the batter:

  1. In a bowl mix glutinous rice flour and sugar
  2. Add fresh orange juice, orange zest and oil
  3. Whisk until smooth and lump-free

Cook the mochi:

  1. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap
  2. Microwave for 1 minute, stir well
  3. Microwave another 1 minutes, stir again
  4. Microwave 30-60 seconds more until thick, sticky and slightly translucent 

(Alternatively, steam for about 15-20 minutes until fully cooked)

Shape:

  1. Let the dough cool slightly
  2. Dust your surface with cornstarch
  3. Knead gently until smooth
  4. Shape into small balls or flatten and cut into pieces
