CHOCOLATE LAVA MOCHI

Chocolate Lava Mochi is a chewy dessert made with glutinous rice flour and filled with rich, melted chocolate. Lightly sweet on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside, it’s an easy and indulgent..

INGREDIENTS (6-8 pieces) 

  • 100g glutinous rice flour 
  • 25g sugar
  • 150ml water
  • Cornstarch or potato starch (for dusting)
  • 6-8 squares of chocolate or teasoons of Nutella

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a bowl mix glutinous rice flour, sugar and water until smooth
  2. Cook the mixture:                                                                                  MICROWAVE: Heat for 1 minute, stir, then heat another 1 minute until thick and translucent.                                                                      STEAMING: Steam for 10-12 minutes
  3. Dust a clean surface generously with cornstarch
  4. Transfer the hot mochi dough onto the surface and let it cool slightly
  5. Divide the dough into equal pieces
  6. Flatten each piece, place chocolate or Nutella in the center, and seal well
  7. Roll gently into balls
  8. Serve warm for a gooey lava center

TIPS:

  • Don't overfill or the chocolate may leak
  • Best enjoyed fresh and slightly warm
  • Reheat gently in the microwave (10-15 seconds)
