INGREDIENTS (6-8 rolls):

  • 100g glutinous rice flour 
  • 20g sugar
  • 150ml water
  • Cornstarch or potato starch (for dusting)
  • 1-2 bananas

Optional:   Melted chocolate, Nutella or chocolate chips.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour, sugar and water until smooth 
  2. Cook the mixture:          Microwave: Heat for 1 minute, stir, and heat another 1 minute until thick and translucent.  Steaming: Steam for about 10-12 minutes 
  3. Generously dust a clean surface with cornstarch
  4. Transfer the hot mochi dough onto the surface and gently flatten it into a thin rectangle 
  5. Place peeled bananas on one edge of the mochi sheet
  6. Roll tightly to form a log, like a wrap
  7. Cut into bite-size rolls
  8. Drizzle with melted chocolate or sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired 

TIPS:

  • Dust well to prevent sticking 
  • Best eaten fresh while soft and chewy 
  • You can chill for 10-15 minutes for cleaner slices
